Yep. We have survived with very few mishaps. I admit to having had a few drops of Stevia in my coffee and I ate a few nuts and then realized they might have some sugar in them and sure enough, there were corn syrup solids in the ingredient list. I’m a professional dieter so I should have assumed that the only thing that would make garlic, sesame and poppy seeds stick to a cashew is sugar but I only ate 3 so I shouldn’t implode just yet. I’m honestly striving for progress, not perfection with this and I know that will skew my response to the diet but at this point I am ok with that. Now that I truly know what I am in for I believe that I can do this diet at a later date and do it “perfectly”.
I have to say that the gold medal winner of the diet thus far is Daily Harvest. Their smoothies are magnificent. I used their service several years ago, and I feel like they have only improved. I’ve not enjoyed some of their bowls and soups, so I think we will stick with the smoothies for now, but I am very grateful to have them as an option. I’m learning that I prefer soy milk as a creamer far more than nut milk, but nut milks are delicious in a smoothie. I’ve been a massive fan of Milkadamia for a while, and it is still my favorite, with cashew milk coming in second. Though I love pistachios, I loathe them in milk form. I’ve tried for years to overcome my dislike of almonds and will occasionally eat them, but they become repellent in milk form. Almonds are like that distant cousin you don’t exactly like, but it’s still kind of nice to see them once a year.
