Hi there! You have reached the blog of Marlene (aka GG) and Dave. We are a middle-aged couple who found each other right at the beginning of the pandemic. As one might imagine, it was pretty bizarre to start a relationship during the first pandemic of our lives, but both of us were just brave and crazy enough to give it a try. We dated via FaceTime for a month before finally meeting (and social distancing) at a local park. After many dates that involved nothing but holding each other’s overly sanitized hands, we realized that we were terrific together on and off camera. After a few months of dating, Dave moved into the other side of my duplex (which was empty for the first time in 15 years) and we have been happy ever since. Ain’t love grand and weird AF?
Now, there are a few things you should know about us before we go any further. Marlene is a 50-something hairstylist that has been alcohol-free since March of 2018, and Dave works in IT and has been alcohol-free for 1.5 years with a couple of hiccups. Marlene had gastric bypass in 2004, so obviously, she suffers from food addiction issues. Marlene quit smoking in 2003, and Dave quit in 2004. Marlene is an actual hoarder, and shopping on Amazon is sometimes a bit of a problem and Dave is a collector of comic books and gaming paraphernalia. Both of us use the television to numb out, and since we’ve been in pandemic hell, you can imagine that we have watched ridiculous amounts of television over the last 2 years. The pandemic really halted all physical activity for both of us other than sex and a few bike rides, so we’ve both gained weight and are generally feeling like shit. Dave has also had an ongoing bout of Brewer’s Gut which has become really worrisome to both of us, so we decided to do something drastic– we are starting the Plant-Based Whole30 on March 1, 2022, and both of us are excited and scared shitless. Giving up our favorite things for a month is scary but is probably the best way for us to combat some of our issues and addictions surrounding food right now. We’ve always thought about having a blog or vlog, and this seemed like a great time to start one since we are both going to be raw and angry for the next 30 days. What better time to accost the public with our acerbic wit and resentment?
So there you have it. That is the Cliff Notes version of our lives and we will expand on some of our life together and individually. We truly hope you enjoy your time here.
Thanks for visiting, and we hope you keep coming back!
